Fixation by means of adhesive gypsum plaster

Back to overview

General

- The choice of the manner of fixation and the supporting structure is mainly determined by the nature of the base as well as the physical construction requirements. EUROTHANE G boards can be used as wall, ceiling and partition wall coatings. The boards are then attached to a wooden supporting structure.

- As a wall coating, EUROTHANE G insulation boards can also be bonded directly to the base using adhesive gypsum plaster.

- EUROTHANE G boards must be positioned about 1 cm from the finished floor to avoid the absorption of moisture by the plasterboard. If this is not possible and the boards must be positioned flush to the floor, the bottom edge of the board must be protected with a plastic foil or sealing kit.

Fixation by means of adhesive gypsum plaster

- The base must be such that adhesive gypsum plaster adheres to it well.

- EUROTHANE G insulation boards can be bonded without special precautions directly onto plasterboard, facing bricks, moderately absorbing bricks, heavy rough concrete and argex concrete.

- Heavily absorbing bricks must be moistened. Gypsum plaster blocks, strong gypsum plasterwork and concrete must be pre-treated with an adhesion product.

- The possibility of bonding to painted surfaces or damp-proofed surfaces depends on the situation and the nature of the products used.

Insulation, fixation by means of adhesive gypsum plaster

1. EUROTHANE G
2. Adhesive strips and blobs applied as indicated in the detail.
3. Joint seal:
   A. Chamfered edges
   B. Adhesive tape
   C. Sealing tape
   D. & E. Finishing layers
4. Pre-marked straight line

NOTE:
EUROTHANE G boards must be stored flat and dry
.

- It is important that the mixing water for the adhesive gypsum plaster can evaporate after bonding. This means that EUROTHANE G boards with a vapour barrier must never be bonded onto a vapour-tight base. EUROTHANE G boards must also not be finished until the adhesive gypsum plaster is completely dry. Bonding onto a wet base is not permitted. Do not bond at temperatures < 5°C onto a frozen base.

- Before applying adhesive gypsum plaster to the wall, soot, grease, dust, wallpaper and any loose plaster must be removed. Completely dry surfaces must be moistened for at least 15 minutes before bonding. Any plasterboards already present must not be moistened.

- The adhesive gypsum plaster is applied with a plastering trowel. Strips of adhesive gypsum plaster are applied to the sides of the EUROTHANE G boards. Blobs of adhesive gypsum plaster are distributed over the whole surface of the board. The blobs and strips have a width of 40 to 80 mm and a thickness of 5 to 40 mm. The blobs in the middle of the board are applied a little thicker than the rest. The distance between the vertical strips and the sides of the EUROTHANE G boards is 10 to 100 mm after pressing down.

- If blobs of adhesive gypsum plaster have to be used that are too thick, strips of ordinary plasterboard can be used as justification.

- The justification can be done by laying the EUROTHANE G boards face down on the floor. Positioning EUROTHANE G boards should preferably be started at one corner. Position the board in the right place, perpendicular in both directions. Use a wooden slat and a rubber hammer for this. Never strike a board directly with a hammer. The next boards are aligned with a straightedge.NOTE:
EUROTHANE G boards must be stored flat and dry.
